Energy Efficiency Design Strategies in Office Buildings: A Literature Review

Abstract The growing concerns over the adverse effects of buildings on environment and need to achieve users’ thermal, visual, acoustic, spatial indoor environmental air quality comfort have given rise demand for energy efficient buildings. This paper relied a review 36 articles published between 2007 2019 identify categorise efficiency design, planning construction applicable office data were randomly selected using Science Direct Google Scholar search engines internet analysed by thematic textual analysis. results revealed 29 design strategies which categorised into three distinct phases building projects: pre-construction (design planning), post stages. further landscape designs, site selection, orientation, plan appropriate space organisation. study also established that envelope systems, integration renewable sources day lighting most implemented in concluded highlighting key areas focus buildings, extent research has progressed subject future possible directions topic.
